In order to further the development of the next generation of American actors, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has supported one of the nation’s most respected internship programs since 1996. Named in honor of Bruce E. Coyle, a production stage manager and essential member of the Playhouse family for more than 20 years, the internship runs the full length of the season, from August to May.

•  Play or understudy main stage roles.

•  Perform in the annual production of A Christmas Carol.

•  Gain EMC points whenever involved in an Equity production.

•  Tour the region in school outreach programs. Past productions have included commissioned premieres and other challenging works by Anna Deavere Smith, David Gonzalez, Elizabeth Wong, Laurie Brooks and William Shakespeare.

•  Participate in workshops with the Playhouse Producing Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director and other professionals.

•  Are assigned to running crews for a maximum of two main stage productions — their only required backstage work. Eighty percent of an acting intern’s time is spent acting.

•  Appear in a Playhouse-organized New York City showcase.

•  Receive a stipend.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park prefers recent MFA graduates. However, we do consider undergraduates who have been working for a couple of years.

The Playhouse attends the United Professional Theatre Auditions (UPTA) and the New England Theatre Conference  (NETC) auditions. We can also arrange auditions in Cincinnati. We will see and consider applicants from January through March of each year.
